Congress Passes Commuter Act

Employers of people who bike to work stand to gain a $20 per month tax credit per cycling employee, according to the final version of the Wall Street bailout bill, H.R. 1424, passed this afternoon. The House passed the bill today (Oct. 2, 2008) with a final vote of 263-171, a comfortable margin that was 58 more votes than the measure garnered in Monday's stunning defeat. League of American Bicyclists U.S. Senate Resolution

Recognizing the importance of bicycling in transportation and recreation: Recognizes that increased and safe bicycle use for transportation and recreation is in the national interest of the United States. Supports policies that increase bicycle use. Encourages the Department of Transportation (DOT) to provide leadership and coordination by reestablishing the federal bicycle task force to include representatives from all relevant federal agencies.

The River of Grass Greenway

The Naples Pathways Coalition (NPC) continues to work towards realizing the River of Grass Greenway (ROGG), a proposed multi-use pathway across the Everglades paralleling Hwy 41.
