The Biscayne – Everglades Greenway ride is scheduled for this upcoming Sunday. Gather your ride partners and prepare for an awesome day of riding that will take us from the beautiful waters of Biscayne Bay to the lush wetlands of Everglades National Park!
The ride is hosted in partnership with Green Mobility Network and Everglades Bicycle Club and made possible by our sponsor Rails to Trails Conservancy. The full 42 mi. course will require long stretches on frequently traveled rural roads: riders should not attempt unless they can safely ride in traffic. The shorter courses (22 & 14) mi. are better suited to less experienced riders as the roads have sidewalks on at least one side. Below are some of the main details of the ride. Also take a look at the meeting point map displaying Homestead Sports Complex.
Start / Finish at Homestead Sports Complex, NE of Palm Dr., SW 152 Av. Parking at east gate, off Alex Muxo Blvd.
BEG Ride is 42 mi., 21 of which are on grass or gravel canal banks.
Fat Tire ride – hybrids OK; no road bikes.
Shorter 22 & 14 mile rides offered as well. Ride leaders, map & turn-by-turn sheets will be provided for each of the three distance rides.
Water & snacks at start and 3 locations along 42 mile ride, but bringing your own snacks is still recommended.
Water & restrooms available at Homestead Sports Complex, Biscayne National Park & Everglades National Park.
Ride at your own speed and helmets are required.
