Art Festivals Going Bike-Friendly

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is offering bike valet  this year.  We think it’s a first for this always-popular event, and we’re excited to be working with them to make the show more accessible.  If you bike to the festival on Feb. 13-15 you’ll find our Green Mobility tent at the main entrance, 2980 McFarlane Road. There friendly volunteers will park and protect your bicycle — and share information about this and other projects making greater Miami better for people who bicycle, run, and walk.

The concept of bike valet at an arts festival was tested and proven at the Rotary Arts Festival in South Miami, where we’ll be back on Feb. 20-21 at 5750 SW 72nd St.

A Fine Weekend for Bicycling

Miami-area bicyclists are about to have one of those perfect-weather weekends that make our northern cousins jealous. Not only is there no hint of rain, there are fun events in Coral Gables and on Virginia Key worthy of your attention. In the Gables there’s our annual Tweed Ride, a family-friendly social event for cyclists young and old. Across town on Virginia Key, the Grassroots Festival of Music, Art, and Dance has gone out of its way to be bike-friendly: If you arrive by bike on Sunday you’ll enjoy half-price admission. On both Saturday and Sunday, you’ll find the Green Mobility bike valet to look after your wheels while you enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes at the festival. Valet hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Busy Weekend in Wynwood

Parked bicycles at the Green Mobility Network stand
Art-lovers’ bicycles filled our racks Saturday at O Cinema in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood.

Bicyclists were out in force Saturday and Sunday as Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood welcomed Art Basel crowds. Many used our bike valet at O Cinema, where we enjoyed making new friends and meeting old ones. Thanks to O and our civic-minded valet sponsors, Street Easy and EBP Cycling Lab, and to the creative folk at ArtCycle.

If you’d like to have bike valet at your festival or other outdoor event, write to info@greenmobilitynetwork.org and put “valet request” in the subject line.
