Many thanks to Bike Walk Coral Gables and Coral Gables Museum for leading a bike tour from downtown Coral Gables to the Ludlam Trail mid-point in AD Barnes Park. Approximately 25 riders enjoyed a leisure ride through neighborhood streets and eventually came to a trail access point near Waterway Drive. GMN program manager Eric Katz was present to greet the group and offered the latest information regarding the Friends of Ludlam Trail campaign, and how they could help support the cause.
Bike Walk Coral Gables is well-known for its community bike tours, usually occurring within the city, but because the Ludlam Trail has such a regional impact the ride leaders knew it was important to introduce Coral Gables residents to the trail that lies just minutes from the city limits. To help provide context, before the ride embarked, staff from Coral Gables Museum toured the group through the museum exhibit Ludlam Trail: Grassroots to Treetops. The exhibit displays the medium to long-term goals for the FOLT campaign which includes the construction of a linear park and trail stretching from Dadeland to Miami International Airport. The exhibit is open until the end of January 2016.
Future collaborations with Bike Walk Coral Gables coming soon!
