Plans Workshop for Trail in Glades

Posted on February 18, 2013 by jdh

A third series of public workshops to plan the River of Grass Greenway will be held March 12-16 at Florida International University. These sessions will focus on the corridor along U.S. 41 between Krome Avenue and the Collier County line. You can follow progress on the proposed cross-state greenway at www.evergladesROGG.org and contribute your ideas for the planning at www.RiverofGrassGreenway.org.

The FIU meetings will be held at the College of Architecture & the Arts, on the north side of campus at 11200 SW 8th St., Miami 33199.  The schedule follows:

  • Tuesday, March 12, 6-8 p.m., kickoff and briefing in the auditorium.
  • Wednesday, March 13, 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., small-table sessions in room 341 on greenway routing, trailheads, and connections, as well as stakeholder interviews.
  • Thursday, March 14, 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., small-table sessions in room 341 on greenway design and construction materials, locations of concern, and locations of opportunity. Stakeholder interviews continue.
  • Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., open house in the auditorium for a summary of public input. Interviews continue. Lunch break at noon.

An earlier series of workshops focused on the Naples end of the greenway. There’s also to be a series Feb. 25-March 2 in Everglades City, focused on the central portion of the greenway.
