Miami bicycle plan moves to commission

Posted on September 24, 2009 by admin

The Miami Bicycle Master Plan is headed for City Commission consideration on Oct. 8  along with a proposal from the city’s Office of Sustainable Initiatives for bike parking in future multi-family and commercial buildings.  The spark for these plans was ignited when Green Mobility Network approached Mayor Manny Diaz in 2007, then took him a package of proposals early last year.  The mayor convened a small Bicycle Action Committee to work with city staff. Eventually city staffer Collin Worth was named bicycle coordinator, and urban planner Mike Lydon, of Street Plans Colaborative, was set to work drafting the master plan. We expect that document to go online next week so you can read it ahead of the commission meeting.
