Holiday fun at Bike Miami

John Hopkins and David Henderson at Bike Miami Day 2 The fun resumed at Bike Miami Day 2 on Sunday, and Green Mobility Network participated fully with bike valet at Bayfront Park and Mary Brickell Village. The next one will be held on January 18, and this time we expect the riding will extend west as far as Lummus Park.

Mayoral staffer Kathryn Moore enjoys her ride during Bike Miami Day 2The turnout was markedly less than on Nov. 9 — not surprising with the holidays upon us. Plans are afoot for the next time around, and we’ll update when we know more.

Thanks to Doug Clark for the photos! That’s me at the top with David Henderson, the county bicycle-pedestrian coordinator and president of the Florida Bicycle Association. He generously helped all day at our bike valet at Mary Brickell Village. Coasting down the Miami Avenue Bridge are Green Mobility member Ellen Haas and her daughter, and below that mayoral staffer Kathryn Moore, thoroughly enjoying her new wheels.

Many thanks, also, for valet help by members of the Key Club at South Miami High School — Alex Quintana, Rudy Tami and Micheline Janvier.

  1. If the attendance was poor the second time, it’s because no one who participated the first time [my family and I included] knew about the second event. We would have certainly gone again!

    Keep up the good work.

    Miami CiclovĂa is a god-send.
